Timeline
-
2019 - 2022 Started working full-time on Gymdesk. Despite COVID hitting our industry hard in 2020, Gymdesk crossed $1M in ARR (Annual Recurring Revenue) and 10 full time employees in 2022. In the Blog section of this site, I write about the journey to building a successful bootstrapped SaaS.2019
-
2016 - 2019 During the ramp time of Gymdesk as I was figuring out product-market fit and marketing channels, I worked as the CTO of a DTC eCommerce company in LA called Scale Media. At Scale we built a proprietary eCommerce platform with baked in marketing and paid acquisition features that catapulted the company forward.2016
-
2016 Built and launched Gymdesk (then "Martial Arts on Rails"), combining my professional background in software development with my personal hobby of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.2016
-
2010 - 2015 Co-founder Binpress, a marketplace for commercial open-source. With Binpress we went through the 500 Startups accelerator in 2013 and raised a VC seed round. Binpress was acquired at the end of 2015.2010
-
2004 - 2010 During college, I learned the basics of programming and starting working as a freelance web developer. Started Lionite in 2007 with two other partners, partnering with pre-launch startups to build and launch their MVP.2004
About Me
I’m a reformed grumpy software developer, who now does marketing and gathers customer feedback.
I was building my career as a software developer and entrepreneur during a transformational time as superior user experience became a differentiating factor in software and hardware design.
I started out as the stereotypical software developer – blaming users for “using it wrong” whenever they ask for a new feature. But as I grew as a person and as a professional, I came to understand the user’s point-of-view, and now product experience design is my main passion.
I’ve started multiple software businesses to various degrees of success, all of which prepared me for my current venture – Gymdesk – which combines all the skills that I acquired over the last 18 years or so.
